The 2018 Masterclasses are for singing and violin/viola. Don't miss a fantastic opportunity to have your performance improved by a top professional in your field. The Masterclasses are entertaining and educational, for performers as well as for the audience.

In the Masterclasses, aspiring musicians are offered the chance to perform a piece of their choice (lasting no more than 5 minutes) to the tutors, who will consequently offer their expert advice.

Numbers are limited, and the successful applicants will be informed shortly after the closing date.

Masterclass Violin/viola with Andrea Gajic, from 09.30-12.30

Andrea Gajic studied violin in Baltimore, Moscow and at London's Royal College of Music. She performs internationally as a soloist in addition to her regular teaching commitments, which include the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Aged 12 she was selected to perform at Yehudi Menuhin's 60th birthday party: quite an accolade!

Masterclass Singing with Patricia MacMahon, from 2-5pm

Pat MacMahon was for thirty years one of Scotland’s leading sopranos and for many years senior vocal tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland; she is now respected internationally as an expert in voice production and interpretation. Pat has strong connections with Carlisle, which started with her teacher, Ena Mitchell. She will be giving advice and instruction to facilitate the development of each singer in a way that will be interesting to all who attend.
